What is risograph printing?
Risograph printing is a unique printing process characterised by its slight imperfections and the overlap of colours can be irregular, effectively creating unique artworks.

What is a risograph printer?
A risograph printer is an environmentally-friendly printer using soy-based inks to produce unique prints. It looks like a photocopier and uses a process similar to screen-printing.

How does it work?
The machine creates a stencil from an original artwork. The stencil is made from thermal sensitive paper and the original artwork is effectively burnt onto it. It is tightly wrapped around an ink drum and paper is fed into the machine to pass under the rotating drum. The drum forces the ink through the stencil onto the paper, creating a uniquely textured print of the original artwork. Risograph printing works like screen-printing as each colour is layered on separately. When printing multi-colour projects, the paper will run through the machines as many time as there are layers of colours.
